Toys speak their truth and fairy tales turn tummies and trigger tantrums in this moving bilingual drama with a comic twist told with fierce physical ingenuity.
Caught in an endless loop between troubled childhoods and adulthoods, a child with ADHD and a teacher with a working visa collide in a rowdy frenzy of pink rage, both searching for salvation.
An anti-celebration of the anti-heros of the everyday, served for you without confetti but with zero awareness of gender norms. Performed to the live sounds of a xylophone and a few plastic instruments, and featuring a couple of fairly opinionated puppets. Surtitles provided.
Original play performed at Katapult, Berlin
03.08 and 05.08.2021
------------------------------------------------------------------
Written by Remnant
Devised and performed by Remnant, Ash Willison, Ellie Brewster and Yasmin Wagner
Dramaturgy assistance, tech and front of house by Jazmine Reynoso
Live music including original compositions by Yasmin Wagner
Original blurb:
Tali loves children. Finding and taking up a job as an unqualified kindergarten teacher has allowed her to fulfil her wish to settle in Germany and start a new life, away from her war-torn country of origin. Tali was happy. She was ecstatic. Until some things began to take a toll on her. But Tali will not give up… This is a story about the ordinary, day-to-day struggles of (different) ordinary people.
Show length: 60 minutes
